Player of the Week: Steven Hoffman
Steven Hoffman played a pivotal role this past weekend when he helped his side Vasco da Gama secure a point in their 1-1 draw with Milano United.
The 21-year-old shot-stopper produced a number of brilliant saves to keep his side in the lead, however, conceded in the second period through an own goal.
“I’m really humbled, it is such an honor to be chosen as the most outstanding player,” Hoffman told CapeTownFootball.
My performance against Milano was a reflection of what hard work and motivation from the coaches and other players can do to help you reach your true potential,” said Hoffman.
The former Edgemead and Ajax development player spent three seasons with Bidvest Wits in the PSL, where he made nine appearances, including one against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.
The lanky shot-stopper was previously called up to the under-17 and under-20 national team, and has his sights on making the Bafana Bafana squad someday.
“I’m contracted to Vasco now, I have a one-year deal with an option for the next season,” Hoffman told CapeTownFootball.
“I’m hoping to get back into the PSL, and hopefully I’ll be wearing the Vasco badge when I’m there.
“National team is very important and I got an under-23 call up but unfortunately wasn’t released because of the important games ahead.
“Overseas is my penultimate goal, and Bafana is my ultimate goal. I’m very patriotic when it comes to South Africa,” he concluded.
