Vasco da Gama midfielder Isma-eel Stanfield spoke exclusively to CapeTownFootball about their upcoming derby match against CT All Stars
The 22-year-old midfielder made his way to Vasco da Gama during the January transfer window in search of regular game time, but has been left out of tomorrows squad due to an injury picked up during training.
The former Cape Town All Stars player made his debut with the Parow-based outfit in their 2-0 loss to Royal Eagles, and would have hoped to prove a point against his former employers.
“(My debut) was a great experience but unlucky for the result away from home,” Stanfield told CapeTownFootball.
“I will miss the game (against CT All Stars) because I hurt my ligament at training.
Everybody is prepared, even the players not in the team is focused on getting the three points which we will get tomorrow with the guidance of the man above,” he added.
Vasco are on a two-match winning run in all competitions, whilst All Stars are in scintillating form in the league, having picked up all nine points from their last three encounters.
“Can’t really say (who will win), we’ll have to see on the day of the match,” Stanfield told CapeTownFootball.
“Also, It’s a derby so no one can predict the score because it can go either way. It will come down to who wants it the most,” he concluded.
